Counting my Blessings

Image
I just want to wish my family, and all of my blogging friends out there who are celebrating Thanksgiving,   a very happy and joyful holiday!  (I used textures from the Graphics Fairy, and Shadow House Creations on the above photo) (stock photo) I took this photo on my last flight from Seattle. I get a little nervous flying sometimes, but I found having my camera and taking photos helped me to stay calm, not to mention a sky like this!  Another thing I do when I fly and the turbulence scares me is look out the window and think about my Mom...it's as if I'm closer to her up there.    I love this quote, it really hit home with me this Thanksgiving holiday!  Well, you guessed it!  I'm off to Seattle again this weekend, but this time it's to celebrate my Birthday! Since my Birthday is on a Sunday this year, and "the hawks" are playing at home, I couldn't think of a better way to spend my day.  (hubby thinks it's pretty cool he's married to someon

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

Image
Lots of mixed emotions going on in my head lately. (I chose this song by Jack Johnson for the "title")  Last night my photography addiction helped me by "distracting" me from the real world.   Still sitting ...still waiting for an answer...still wishing.  Hugs to all of you that have left me such beautiful comments, thank you!  Becca

Let's go for a walk!

Image
Grab your favorite hot beverage and join me for a walk! It's about 53 degrees fahrenheit with a light sprinkle of rain and occasional "sun breaks".  I know I should watch were I'm going, but I can't stop looking at all these leaves,  they're so beautiful!  Oh look, here's a little bench, but it might be a little wet from the rain.  Still, we could sit for a minute and listen to the fountain near by if you'd like.  Look, blue sky, looks like we might get a little sun today. Thanks for joining me on my walk today!   Let's see now, what sounds good for dinner?  I know, how about a big bowl of clam chowder and warm sour dough bread? Yum!  Until next time,  Becca

Crafts n things

Hi everyone!  Wow, last week was so hectic and now, where did the weekend go?  In between trying to get unpacked from our recent trip, and getting the laundry done,  I also wanted to do a little crafting and a blog post.  Here it is Sunday night and I'm just getting around to my post!  I've been working on a few different things I wanted to show you, some of which are "thank-you" gifts for a couple of friends.  The above photo is something I'm working on and not sure where I'm going with it yet, but I was inspired by something I saw on  Rebecca Sower's blog . I'm sure you've seen her work, but if you haven't, you should go over and check out her blog, and tell her I sent you.  You will surely be inspired!  I have a stamp with this quote that I just love.   I used it on this little thank you card I made.   I love making collage tags with tissue paper napkins, it's so easy and fun to do!  All you need is any tag from an office supply sto

Aspiration

Image
Living where  Hydrangeas grow Aspiration 1. Strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition.  2. A goal or objective desired.  3. Act of aspirating; breath  I'm linking to this week's Sunday Creative,  guest hosted by Justine Gordon. This week's word prompt: Aspiration Hope everyone is having a great week.  I'm flying back to Vegas tomorrow,  chat with you soon!

Sending you a Postcard and a Texture

Image
I had some time today to practice with layers and textures again in PSE.  I also wanted to share with you a texture I created and used on the above photo along with a script layer. This is from a table I have in my courtyard. Feel free to use this as a texture if you like.  I'm calling it "Stone Age" I really don't know that much about creating textures yet, but I do like how it looked in my photo above.  If you use this texture, I would be interested in seeing what you came up with, so send me a link to your photo.  I was going for the " vintage post card look" with this photo I took of one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. *** I'm going to be traveling for a few days and even though I'm taking my computer, I'm not sure yet how much time I will have to blog.  So for now, I hope everyone has a nice weekend, and I look forward to visiting with you soon!  Becca

A little caffeine anyone?

One of my favorite places to visit when I'm in Seattle is the "original"  Starbucks. If you're a coffee and tea junkie like me, this place is a must see!  Have fun trying to take a photo of the inside though, it's always so crowded in there and everyone is trying to take pictures,  it's really kind of entertaining.   I don't normally care for crowds, so I'll go in and order with my hubby, try to get a photo then wait outside. LOL! It's Black & White Wednesday over at  The Long Road to China if you'd like to check out some of the other entries.  I'm running off to work for now, but I hope to visit with all of you again soon!  Thanks for dropping by,  Becca

Obsolete

Image
My friend  Justine  is the guest host for Madeline Bea's  The Sunday Creative  for a few weeks and asked if I would like to participate.   Each week a new prompt is given, and you can enter anytime through out the week.  This weeks word prompt is  OBSOLETE 1.no longer in general use, fallen into disuse. 2. effaced by wearing down or away. 3. to make obsolete by replacing with something newer or better; antiquate. I'm still trying to figure out a way to mount this pencil sharpener somewhere.  It has some weight to it, so I'm not so sure it would hold up in drywall and the fact that it is missing the catch all I'd have to figure something out so not to make a mess. Anyway, it brings back memories of elementary school, standing in line with the other kids to sharpen our pencils.  I also like all the different holes...remember those big fat pencils we used to have?  Fun!  So, there's still time to participate this week, or if you just want to see some of the oth

Happy November!

Image
Hi everyone!   I have really been looking forward to this month.  Not only is November my birthday month, but I'm also looking forward to some other exciting possibilities! One very important thing I'm trying to remember though, is to be "thankful."  These are difficult times for everyone, and sometimes remembering to be thankful for what we already  have is not easy when you are focused on something you want.  Today,  I'm thankful I have the day off,  but unfortunately, I'm on my way to stand in line at the DMV to renew my drivers license.  (I wasn't really looking forward to November for that. LOL!) Hopefully, I won't be there too long and I can get back home because I'm in the mood to do a little stitching!  I'm also linking up to Lisa's blog for Macro Monday Head on over there for some really cool Macro shots! Thanks for dropping by!  Becca
