I'm on my way Seattle!

Image
This time tomorrow we will be in one of our most favorite cities...Seattle, Washisngton! These photos are from a previous visit, but I couldn't contain my excitement about the trip, so I wanted to include a few.  ...but, I'd better not bore you now, because I'm sure I will have a few, new photographs for later too. So, I'd better get packing, but I didn't want to leave without telling you that even though I'm on a bit of a holiday, I will be drawing the winner of my 1st annual GIVEAWAY tomorrow night, April 30th and I will post the winner sometime on Saturday night, May 1st.  So, there's still time to enter if you haven't already!  Just leave me a comment  here  and I will include your name in the drawing. I'm sure I'll be hitting a couple of my favorite antique places there in Seattle too, so who knows, I might find some other goodies to share in the GIVEAWAY.  Have a wonderful weekend...until tomorrow,  Becca

A GIVEAWAY gift and more antique finds

Image
Hi bloggers!  I finally finished the little pillow that'll be included in my giveaway.  I think it turned out pretty cute, so I hope you'll think so too!  The back is all burlap, so it matches the trimming on the front. What have you been up to this weekend?   Time to get ready for another week, but I wanted to share with you a few photos of some fun, antique finds!  I thought these little salt and pepper shakers were a fun way to use glitter.  The little crocheted doily I couldn't resist either, but my friend, Linda is going to show me how to make them right Linda?  Finally, I was cleaning up my craft room and set these salt and pepper shakers up on this "neon cactus in a terra cotta pot" that I have,  just to get them out of the way so I could dust, and I was taken back by how they looked with the green light, so...of course I grabbed my camera and came up with this!  Pretty cool huh?  Well, have a nice week, and don't forget to leave me a comment

1st Annual Blogiversary GIVEAWAY!

Image
Hello everyone!  I can't believe next Saturday, May 1st will mark the first anniversary of my blog,  Patina Moon!  I remember reading other art blogs and being so inspired, I wanted to start my own, but what would it be about?  I'm not a professional photographer or an artist.  I'm just someone who likes to craft, garden, and take photographs, so I guess I just started with "what I knew" and went from there!  I'd like to celebrate this one year Blogiversary with my first GIVEAWAY!  For me, it's been all about letting out my creative sprit and not being afraid to share it with others.  Once I began to blog I realized there were so many like minded creative spirits out there just like me!  I'd like to thank all my followers, and fellow bloggers out there who have visited Patina Moon over the past year and left me words of encouragement and sweet comments.  Some of the things that I'd like to give are things that I've blogged about in the past,

Happy Weekend!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to send out a quick post to say hi and share with you that my 2 kitties, Shatzie and Fetzer just turned 8 years old yesterday!   I never had cats before these two, (always had dogs) in fact, I wasn't even sure I would want these, but if you haven't already figured it out by some of my previous posts, I'm hooked and officially now a crazy cat lady!  These 2 have brought so much joy into my life.   I'm excited the weekend is finally here and I can spend some more time reading blogs and working in my craft room.  HAPPY WEEKEND!

On my mind...

I can't believe it's been 16 years today since I lost my Mom.  Enough time has passed now,  that I can get through this day without sadness, and only recall the good and happy memories.  These are Lincoln roses that I cut from my rose tree last night.  Our rose tree is on the side of the house, and not that visible from the inside, so I like to enjoy their fragrance and beauty this way.  *** I  really enjoy taking photographs and sharing my crafts and treasures with others out there in blogland.   It's like a whole unique world out there of friends with common interests, and I look forward chatting with you everyday!   *** So, for now, I need to get ready for work tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to the weekend!  I'm working on another project, and hopefully I'll have it finished soon and be able to show you. Bye for now,  Becca

One Sunday in Spring...

Image
This weekend a friend of mine celebrated a "special" birthday, so I wanted to make her gift a little more special than the "wrapped in the store" present. I really love making these little pillows, and now I'm learning to incorporate a little embroidery as well.  I'm just a beginner with embroidery, trying to learn stitches from a book or online.  I'd love to learn how to include beads soon!  Any advise from all you novice embroiders out there?  I've seen your blogs and I'm inspired by your handiwork!  So, to end this relaxing, spring Sunday afternoon, I thought I'd leave you with some more of my iris photos. (I can't seem to stop taking photos of them!)  ...and just to add a little color contrast, this is a flower the hubby picked out last weekend at the nursery.  I can't remember what they are, but I do love their brightness and dark green leaves.  Thank you for visiting, and I do enjoy reading your comments! I hope al

Vintage finds and stitching

Image
I found this vintage, printer's type tray at one of our local antique stores.  I have always wanted one, so when I came across this smaller version, I couldn't pass it up!  It's another fun way to store some of your favorite things! So, when I found this small box of printer's type it was the perfect combination.  After sorting through my vintage finds I sewed this little wall hanging, or art quilt or what ever you want to call it.  (It has batting in between the layers).  I love working with a delicate lace over something more substantial like burlap and muslin.  While taking my photographs outside, I noticed how busy my new little garden friends were on the lavender.  This one was just coming in for a landing!  Only one more day until the weekend...   Thanks for stopping by!

Springtime Pretties

Image
It was beautiful this morning so I had my coffee outside and decided to take some photos of the blooming irises in the sunlight. Can you see my leopard print "Snuggie" on the porch swing? I'm a desert rat so I thought it was kind of cool this morning.  The bougainvillea seemed happy too in his new, cobalt blue pot. Good company, and a favorite chair is a nice way to end a relaxing, spring weekend.  Hope your weekend was blooming and relaxing too.  I look forward to chatting with you soon. Have a great week!  Becca

Vintage Glass

Image
There is just something that fascinates me so with the vintage glass sea floats.   I found this float at an antique store here in Las Vegas a long time ago. I would love to have seen this float in action in it's day.  What is it that sea floats are made of now?   Rubber?  Hard plastic?  Sea glass.  This is "store bought" sea glass that I threw in a vintage jar with some shells.  Have any of you ever discovered "real" sea glass on the beach?  Does it look like this fake stuff?  I hope some day to do a little beach combing and find some of the "real thing!"  Here are just a couple of ways I use all those vintage Ball jars that I love so much.   They make great containers for crafts, embellishments, etc.  What do you store your embellishments in?  *** Hope everyone is having a great week.  It was hard for me to get back to my full time job after having a nice week off.   Thanks for stopping by!
